the infiltrator’s issue

This project is a photographical exploration of African refugees in Israel.

In the very beginning of my exchange semester I noticed, that there are a lot of African refugees in Tel Aviv, living under really bad / the worst conditions. On top, many of the Israelis see them as infiltrators and spread racist attitudes.  So I decided to take a deep photographical look into what the africans are really like. I spent many days in the south of Tel Aviv – where they mainly live – I talked to them, played with their children and took photos of what I saw.

In the magazine I wanted to give the refugees a face. The photos of the refugees were assembled with some inhuman and repulsive quotes from Israeli politicians.
